Their albums are regarded milestones until today, but internal friction, legal issues, and most of all the tragic passing of one of its founding members, Felix Flaucher, has left their works in a limbo for many years. The compilation "Tears - A Collection of Silke Bischoff Songs" is the first step in making their oeuvre available to the public again. This hand-picked selection of classic tracks has been diligently and respectfully restored with a new master by renowned producer Olaf Wollschläger, who has worked with MESH, YELLO, MILÚ, MELOTRON, and BEBORN BETON among many other greats. This compilation even contains a previously unreleased track from the archive featuring Flaucher’s vocals! SILKE BISCHOFF were originally founded by Axel Kretschmann and Felix Flaucher as a gothic and dark wave project in 1990. The band name, SILKE BISCHOFF, initially caused controversy in Germany as it was inspired by an 18-year-old victim of the 1988 'Gladbeck hostage crisis’ that tragically ended in the death of the young woman. Following an acrimonious split that was healed just before the passing of Flaucher in 2017, the band went onto a long hiatus. At the 2025 edition of the prestigious Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Axel Kretschmann revived SILKE BISCHOFF with a celebrated stellar show in front of a packed hall. More concerts have been announced and more SILKE BISCHOFF materials will be carefully restored and become available again both in digital and physical form. The legend has returned!
What is reality? This fundamental question has haunted philosophers, scientists, and artists throughout the centuries. With the arrival of virtual reality, this thought experiment has only become even more urgent and maybe even essential for humankind's survival. Who better to give a devious artistic answer to this conundrum than Belgian dark electro duo MILDREDA with their monumental double album "Realities"? Mastermind Jan Dewulf is exceptionally qualified for this task among his peers as the Belgian musician holds a degree in philosophy. While the previous album "Blue-Devilled" explored hell as defined by French existentialist Jean-Paul Sartre, the amused voice of Albert Camus whispers through the tracks of "Realities". In tune with their deeply human subject, MILDREDA deliver their most emotional album to date. The band introduces colours and emotions rarely associated with a genre defined by cold, hard electronics. The Belgians are pushing their sound markedly beyond the traditional boundaries of dark electro. Although, Canadian EBM influences remain audible as well as additional Belgium sonic flavour, MILDREDA again break into new musical dimensions. The Belgians also gave extra space to include prominent guest vocals from a compatriot, SUICIDE COMMANDO's Johan Van Roy, and Constantin "Breñal" Warter of German cult act CALVA Y NADA fame. With "Realities", MILDREDA do not only deliver their most ambitious and innovative album both lyrically and musically yet, but also their most accessible record so far. Check it out!
This is the age of post-factual lies, which is reflected in MESH's album title "The Truth Doesn't Matter" and a dark undertone that occasionally seeps into their new songs. What remains entirely true is the fact that the UK duo has a nearly uncanny knack for writing electronic hits that are as elegant as they are captivating. "The Truth Doesn't Matter" bursts out like a sparkling firework while subtly referencing three decades of electronic music spanning from GIORGIO MORODER, YAZOO, and DEPECHE MODE via GARBAGE and MASSIVE ATTACK to more contemporary artists. At the same time, MESH always maintain their easily recognisable and unique musical identity as well as the trademark sounds that they have cultivated since their beginnings in the early nineties. With "The Truth Doesn't Matter", MESH climb yet another rung on the ladder leading to electronic music heaven. Each song wriggles its way happily into the brain and sticks around leading to spontaneous whistling of melodies and the public singing of extremely catchy chorus lines. You have been warned: "The Truth Doesn't Matter" is highly infectious and leads to a happier life!
Sonic darkness and a harsh musical experience have always been part and parcel of the industrial genre. FLESH FIELD are taking this a step further by adding cinematic orchestral elements to their distinctive sound. On their sixth full length – counting in the self-released 2011 instrumental album "Tyranny of the Majority" – the US-industrial act displays a supreme mastery of their musical subject. A feeling of hard, cold fury permeates "On Enmity", which is hardly surprising given the current state of the world and an artist who has achieved a master's degree in international policy studies with a focus on counter terrorism. Thematically, mastermind Ian Ross circles back to his original themes as "On Enmity" explores post-trauma and abuse as well as the perseverance to endure without relief or redemption. With "On Enmity", FLESH FIELD take their trademark sound into the present and future. Whether hammering the album's massive beats out on headphones or gladly giving in to magnetic pull towards the dance floor, "On Enmity" presents the well matured and more experienced FLESH FIELD at their very best!
With their debut album "Alpha State", OMEN CODE deliver the sound of the future – and the future is grim and dark! Their future is also firmly built upon the remains of the past. Certainly constructed to fill the dance floor, the international duo channels the bleak, cold precision of mid-tempo FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY and the cinematic story-telling soundscapes of John Carpenter electronics into a thrilling sound that is both resurrecting a classic 80s vibe and also fresh at the same time. OMEN CODE were originally intended as a one-time project by Kevin Gould. The engineer, programmer, and lyricist was a member of the English Industrial EBM trio JOHNSON ENGINEERING CO. together with Sean Bailey and Ian Hicks, which released the album "Unleash" in 1988. He went on to found the electro-industrial act ELECTRO ASSASSIN with Ian Taylor. When vocalist and lyricist Agi Taralas was hand-picked from a stack of applications for the frontman position, the chemistry between the two artists proved so productive and strong that Gould and Taralas decided together to turn OMEN CODE into a permanent project that would also aim to perform live. The vocalist had already left his mark on the scene in a joint project with German electronic musician Stefan Böhm under the moniker OUR BANSHEE that released an album entitled "4200" in 2017. Whether you want to indulge in shady dreams and evoke sinister futuristic images in cinemascopic visions or just move to dark electronics on the dancefloor, OMEN CODE offer the perfect soundscapes for both approaches to their music with the grandiose debut album "Alpha State"!
Behold the "Octagram"! For FÏX8:SËD8 the number 8 is more than just another digit. When the 8 just turns by a little in the context of the German electro industrial project's sixth album, it becomes the symbol for infinity. The number 8 is also reflected in the structure of the album, which consists of 8 songs with a playing-time of 8 minutes. The new songs break out from the classic verse and chorus formula. Freshly introduced odd time signatures and polyrhythmic experiments add to the overall progressive feel this creates. "Octagram" features all the signature elements and sounds that define FÏX8:SËD8: The album is as playful, complex, and melodic as its predecessors. The drums push even a bit harder than before, while the vocals are even more diverse on "Octagram". Vocal samples consist mainly of recitations quoting the last words of persons that were about to receive the death sentence. With "Octagram", electro industrial shooting stars FÏX8:SËD8 once again push the extent of their own musical dimensions as well as the limits of the whole scene. "Octagram" is truly a groundbreaking milestone in the evolution of Martin Sane's electronic industrial darkness!
TWICE A MAN planted the seed for "The Coloured Breeze Is a New Dimension" with the song 'Dahlia', a 'new' track that was written to complement the compilation album "Songs of Future Memories". For three years, the Swedish dark electronic trio fertilised and nurtured the germ bud until it had taken firm root in their musical heritage and began to send offshoots to find new sonic spots beyond any previously built garden walls. "The Coloured Breeze Is a New Dimension" is an organic entity that creates something new by re-combining its musical DNA in various ways. As a result its tracks blossom in many hues of electronic colours. TWICE A MAN have always been pioneers. They spearheaded electronic music in their native Sweden. Long before it was fashionable, the Swedes positioned themselves as environmentalists. Musically, they have been lovingly described as "Ultravox on weed – also melancholic but without the saccharine pathos" or "like a sad Gary Numan, but with a warm, organic touch". There are also gentle echoes of TANGERINE DREAM, KLAUS SCHULZE, and THE HUMAN LEAGUE among many other possible references. When singer, guitarist, and keyboarder Dan Söderqvist teamed up with synth player Karl Gasleben in 1977, the duo formed COSMIC OVERDOSE as the first electronic band in Scandinavia, which grew into TWICE A MAN. During their remarkable career, the Swedes released a multitude of full-length albums that include special projects and two compilations. They also played countless shows, and went on to create a soundtrack for 7 full-evening theatre performances at The Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm, music for movies, exhibitions, dance performances, and computer games. The natural world remains as a strong presence in the lyrics and sound of "The Coloured Breeze Is a New Dimension". It is the musical equivalent of TWICE A MAN seeking comfort by allowing their minds to wander into nature, art, and towards friends and books to get away at least for some time from modern evils.
The Swedish melancholic synth duo has used the time well to hone their musical prowess and to think hard about how they wanted their unique sound to come across in the present. As a result of this intense thought process, the stunning album "A Star in Orbit Still" combines everything that made the band great and generated a dedicated and loyal following that eagerly awaited their return during all those years with a contemporary sound design. Channeling their trademark melancholy and Nordic knack for captivating melodies, THE NORTHERN TERRITORIES did not even shy away from covering LANA DEL REY's iconic track 'Say Yes to Heaven' and to make it theirs. When the Swedish duo disbanded after the release of their third full-length "Satellite People" in 1999, they left behind many a broken heart in the electronic music scene that was mourning the loss of a one of a kind band with a unique sonic appearance. THE NORTHERN TERRITORIES' combination of outstanding songwriting with a strong melancholic Nordic tint as well as semi-acoustic, semi-electronic instrumentation created their very own version of a dreampop soundscape. With “A Star in Orbit Still', THE NORTHERN TERRITORIES are not just back on track as if nothing happened in the years of their absence, but the Swedes return on top of their game and fully ready to climb new peaks!
In the year of the 25th anniversary of the album, MESH reissue this long out of print milestone in a beautiful artbook edition packed with bonus materials. MESH had been conceived in 1991 when lead singer and guitarist Mark Hockings and keyboardist and vocalist Richard Silverthorn found friendship and mutual common ground, leading to the formation of the band. Their musical partnership has ever since defined MESH's enduring legacy. MESH's creative synergy emerged from a complementary distribution of roles: Richard Silverthorn composed the music, while Mark Hockings penned evocative and profound lyrics, infusing depth and emotion into their soundscapes. MESH's musical journey commenced with the release of the "Fragile" EP in 1994 and the full-length debut "In this Place Forever" two years later in 1996. The major label release of "Who Watches over Me" in 2002 propelled MESH further into the limelight and marked another turning point. A surge of popularity across Europe, particularly in Germany, let the UK band climb higher up the festival billings. "Automation Baby" (2013) reached #33 on the German album charts and generally dominated European Alternative Charts. With "Looking Skyward" (2016), MESH climbed to even greater heights with a #12 position on the German charts. Mark Hockings and Richard Silverthorn are currently in the process of writing the next MESH studio album. To shorten the eager wait for old and new fans alike, the duo is making their longtime sold out and much sought-after second album "The Point at Which It Falls Apart" available again in a diligently remastered version.
DERO GOI is back with a bang! The former OOMPH! frontman delivers a massive statement of intent regarding his future direction as an artist – both musically and lyrically – in the shape of the double album "1984", which is packed to the brim with synth hits. "1984" is a fascinating fusion of beloved retro-synth sounds, synth-wave, and EBM with contemporary electronic elements, and even a dose of his former life as a rock and metal musician. DERO GOI, who has always been recognised as an outstanding songwriter, has honed his craft to an even sharper edge. This massive collection of songs will make people dance and sing along, and it will fix catchy tunes into their minds that are bound to last for years to come. DERO GOI remains true to his unbending will of carrying on as a nonconformist artist. Always outspoken and never shy to share his views, his coming out as a Born Again Christian who is still critical towards organised religion and his declared libertarian political leaning have provoked a wide range of reactions. Those include massive obstacles to overcome in finding a label, a booking agent, and he even had to go through already confirmed shows being cancelled. This poses the question: how tolerant is a scene that prides itself of greatest openness to any social class and lifestyle when those values are being put to the test? Are freedom of the arts and freedom of thought only for those, who conform to currently popular ideals? Of course, even words have consequences and there are limits to any freedom, but should those apply to an artist who stands firmly on the ground of his country's constitution and is not breaking any laws? What is freedom worth, if it does not entail the right to dissent? DERO GOI begs to differ and that is not a crime. Before DERO GOI, who was born as Stephan Musiol on April 16, 1970 in the German city of Wolfsburg, founded OOMPH! in 1989, he already played in a band with his friend Thomas Döppner aka OOMH! guitarist and co-founder Crap at the age of 15 while both were still attending high school. His musical influences display an open mind to stylistic diversity as DERO GOI names among others D.A.F., NITZER EBB, FRONT 242, THE CURE, FAITH NO MORE, KILLING JOKE, EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN, AC/DC, DEPECHE MODE, EXTRABREIT, KRAFTWERK, THE BEATLES, ELVIS PRESLEY, and ABBA. DERO GOI has embarked on a course towards a more electronic direction than most of the songs that have previously come from him. "1984" is the testimony of an artist who is using a wide range of influences but who has even expanded his widely respected ability to write extremely catchy tunes. Whatever the listeners will make of this massive contribution to the scene, DERO GOI will never be a singer who holds back or accepts to be told to shut up. Whether you love "1984" or not, what you hear is what you get!
The Leipzig based duo plainly refuses to do the same thing twice. What sets "The Machine in the Ghost" apart is the prominent use of fieldwork recordings to create the sounds for this album. To achieve the desired effects, HAUJOBB used a mix of software and hardware – the latter in the shape of everyday items. This deliberate nod to a time with less software and more analogue shifting of the dials complements the theme of "The Machine in the Ghost" with a retro touch, yet without indulging in mere nostalgia for its own sake. The album revolves around the highly charged relationship between mind and matter, analogue and digital. When HAUJOBB were founded as a trio in the West German city of Bielefeld, their main influences came from the Vancouver school of industrial, in particular SKINNY PUPPY and FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY. This is audible on their early full-length "Homes & Gardens" (1993), but it did not take HAUJOBB long to become themselves regarded as figureheads of a modern electronic industrial sound. On the following albums, "Freeze Frame Reality" (1995) and "Solutions for a Small Planet" (1996), the Germans moved away from their Canadian roots and began to amalgamate IDM (intelligent dance music) with industrial and EBM. This catapulted the Germans onto the international scene and gained them cult status in the US. After HAUJOBB became a duo, they continued to have a strong impact and in particular their 2011 self-released album "New World March" is widely regarded as another milestone. With "The Machine in the Ghost", HAUJOBB have created another exciting chapter in their remarkable career. At the very beginning of the next industrial and creative revolution ignited by the furious rise of artificial intelligence, HAUJOBB still have their metaphorical musical fingers right on the pulse of time.
Deriving their name from the psychiatric terms "fixated/sedated", the German project founded by Martin Sane embarked on their musical journey with two self-released albums that have long been sold out and remain much sought after by collectors. The debut "humanophobia" arrived in 2006 and was produced by HAUJOBB's Daniel Myer, while the sophomore full-length "dormicum" that came out in 2009 was self-produced. FÏX8:SËD8 established their own soundscapes by continuously moving away from their musical paragons, which in the beginning were mainly Canadian cult acts such as SKINNY PUPPY and FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY. FÏX8:SËD8 came into being with the impressive concept album "humanophobia" that dared to artistically deal with one of the greatest crimes in the history of mankind. After visiting Cambodia and one of the so-called killing fields and former internment camps of the Khmer Rouge regime (1975-79) under Pol Pot, Martin Sane exorcised the haunting images of the communist genocide that killed a large part of the population through the creation of particularly dark electronic music. The music remained dark but there was also an obvious evolution expressed in a more focused songwriting and refined style when the second album "dormicum" started to circle in the electro industrial underground in 2009. With each following album reaching a new high-water mark in terms of songwriting and production, the calls for a reissue of the first two releases became continuously louder. This eventually sparked the idea of an artbook collecting both titles. Furthermore, the collaboration with PYRROLINE thought leader Arnte and his keen skills of production and mixing had already benefited "The Inevitable Relapse". This made him the obvious choice for a remaster of both first albums. Luckily, Arnte accepted the challenge and expertly executed the job. At long last, the legendary first two FÏX8:SËD8 albums will soon be available again. Get ready to return to the early days of Martin Sane's electronic industrial darkness with "humanophobia:dormicum".
For BLACK NAIL CABARET, the chrysanthemum's blossom paves the way for our own deathbed portraits. We know that the grim reaper will come to us all and bring the end, which turns us into fear-filled jars. Our jar could be filled with so many other things but fear permeates all. The eponymous "Chrysanthemum" of the Hungarian pop noire duo's sixth album symbolises an uprising against that but also acceptance. Although BLACK NAIL CABARET remain true to their marked penchant for sexually explicit provocation, the primal, subconscious fear of death that triggers emotions, anxiety, and the fear of letting go is also a red thread running through the album that is metaphorically named "Chrysanthemum". The eroticism of the Hungarians has always avoided cheap clichés. Instead the duo artistically depicts their living BDSM reality, which is framed by high aesthetic standards. Musically, BLACK NAIL CABARET have brought their outstanding songwriting abilities closer to perfection. On "Chrysanthemum", the duo is seemingly effortless blending dark electronic sounds with pop noire elements. Their talent to write songs that can stand on their own and do not rely on electronic trickery has set BLACK NAIL CABARET apart from their peers. At the latest on their self-released full-length "Pseudopop" (2018), the Hungarians had successfully fused art, pop, dark harmonies, and powerful electronics. BLACK NAIL CABARET continued to hit the international scene with their fifth album "Gods Verging on Sanity" in 2020. The duo's excellent reputation rapidly spread through word of mouth even though the global pandemic enforced severe limitations upon them. Now the stars have all aligned, and BLACK NAIL CABARET are ready to take on the world with a dark soundtrack of life's glory that is symbolised by a shiny white flower of seeming innocence that at closer inspection also carries all the eternal might of death in its scent: "Chrysanthemum".
KIRLIAN CAMERA are an ever churning maelstrom of creativity and musical innovation. Their inspirational power is both, destructive when it comes to limitations of genre, style, and conventions as well as constructive for example regarding building a new sonic architecture on the ruins of the old. The Italians latest masterpiece, "Radio Signals for the Dying", is no exception as a new artistic high-watermark. On the surface, KIRLIAN CAMERA continue on the dark musical path they chose to follow on their previous double album "Cold Pills (Scarlet Gate of Toxic Daybreak)" (2021). It speaks volumes about the Italian electro-provocateurs' extreme level of energy that the band is able to follow up such a massive work with another powerful double full-length. Yet "Radio Signals for the Dying" is anything but a mere repeat of its glorious predecessor. Instead KIRLIAN CAMERA subtly change their sound design by a thousand smart details, delightful tricks, grand effects, unexpected twists, digressions, and clever variations of existing themes. For many decades, KIRLIAN CAMERA have inhabited and continue to dwell in a realm of multi-layered constructions and occult transcendence as well as subversive content that has always been at the core of their art. In the past, their unapologetic at times outrageous delight to provoke and to hold a truth-telling mirror to the world has repeatedly sparked controversy. Having passed their impressive 40th anniversary as a constantly evolving, ever changing band that has never ceased to search for new answers, KIRLIAN CAMERA invite the listener with "Radio Signals for the Dying" to join them on an adventurous musical journey to occult dimensions and magical places of dangerous beauty and joyful darkness. The Italians are electronic shamans, rock mystics, sonic revolutionaries, and high priests of the free arts that are again reborn as a musical phoenix in creative fire.
MILDREDA are spellbound by the devil! The Belgian electro shooting stars are possessed to the point that their sophomore physical full-length with the tell-tale title "Blue-Devilled" turns out to be a concept album hell but as the one defined by French existentialist Jean-Paul Sartre, which is reflected in the eyes of other people. This idea is a recurrent theme in many tracks of the album. Musically, "Blue-Devilled'' turns out to be more varied than its direct predecessor "I Was Never Really There". There are more melodies and more shades to be found in the new tracks. Canadian EBM influences are still audible as well as the touch of Belgium sonic flavour. Yet the new broader and more open sound reveals MILDREDA's true colours. In 1995, the 16 year old Jan Dewulf self-released his first full-length tape "II Castrato" under the MILDREDA banner. His raw first effort was soon followed by a second cassette entitled "De Laffe Denker" in 1996, which got widely copied and circulated in electro circles. MILDREDA gained a strong following and excellent reputation in the Belgian scene and beyond, which led to live performances sharing stages with such renowned acts as PLASTIC NOISE EXPERIENCE, TERMINAL CHOICE, COVENANT, VNV NATION among many others. Despite his early success, Dewulf felt discontent with the business side of the scene and put MILDREDA on hold. In following years, he took a degree in philosophy and also started a new project under the moniker DISKONNEKTED, which focused more on dance influences. MILDREDA continued to grow even during their absence by word of mouth. Dewulf came back to his love for dark electronic sounds with the digitally released 'Coward Philosophy' in 2016. His first physical album "I Was Never Really There" in 2021 brought MILDREDA back to the spotlight of the electro scene. "Blue-Devilled" both musically and lyrically marks another huge milestone in the career of MILDREDA. The Belgians are back to prove that even in a philosophical hell, the devil still writes all the best tunes!
The Germans' new studio album "Backdraft" is best described as a creative explosion that lets all the beloved sounds of their previous works shine brightly and combined on this record. "Backdraft" easily shifts gears from catchy gothic rock to electronic dark wave and up to melodic post-punk. And while this sounds reminiscent of the 80s and early 90s, GIRLS UNDER GLASS have not just rested on their past creative laurels but upgraded their music to the new millennium with a renewed passion that is audible in every note. Even though GIRLS UNDER GLASS revisit their classic themes, something fresh and new also shows in the lyrics, which in 2023 are less personal than before but reflect on the dystopian issues of our times. Yet although things change, sometimes they also return to a previous state. Former vocalist Thomas "Tom" Lücke has not only joined the band again on stage where he alternated with current singer Volker Zacharias , but Tom also recorded with GIRLS UNDER GLASS as he is singing on the tracks of the EP that comes alongside this album. GIRLS UNDER GLASS started out in the city of Hamburg in 1986 and quickly became a spearhead of the German gothic rock and dark wave scene. From 1994 until 2006, the band expanded their musical horizon and experimented with rock, crossover, and even metal sounds. With an impressive discography under their belt and a massive loyal fanbase, it came of something of a shock when the band seemed to fizzle out of existence. Luckily, the long wait is finally over: GIRLS UNDER GLASS return with a fiery and passionate full-length. "Backdraft" will return the band to where it belongs: on top!
The certified German sound magician has created a multi-layered masterpiece that does not just feed pure ear-candy to audiophiles as any headphone-test will confirm, but also thrills with excellent songwriting and lyrical depth. The sound of "utOpium" is highly transparent and detailed yet at the same time aggressive and powerful, which perfectly fits the industrial genre, in which 2ND FACE operate and push the limits. Uhlig has invested five years of blood, sweat, and tears into this monster of an album. His work displays an obvious respect for industrial scene. The darkness of the Belgian school has left an audible mark in the sound of 2ND FACE yet also notes of SKINNY PUPPY, and even a knife tip of avant-garde pioneers TOOL. While referencing the industrial tradition, Uhlig also steers his own course, which for example manifests in his use of an EMS Synthi AKS and PPG-300 modular system inherited from his father – the krautrock pioneer Wolf-Rüdiger Uhlig (MURPHY BLEND, HANUMAN). Lyrically, "utOpium" takes a deep dive through the human mind and embarks on a philosophical journey to self-awareness. 2ND FACE also hold a a subtle mirror to society, which is fragmenting while collectively opting for (social) media self-hypnosis in the face of climate change and war. 2ND FACE were conceived by Vincent Uhlig in the German city of Mainz, capital of the Rhineland-Palatinate, in 2014. The 2017 debut full-length "Nemesis" was widely regarded as a "newcomer of the year" and did not only receive much praise from critics but also sold particularly well. With the EP "Nihilum", 2ND FACE confirmed their exceptional talent and status as fast-rising new stars on the industrial sky. With "utOpium", 2ND FACE achieve another quantum jump in quality and the sound of the album is bound to become a benchmark of the industrial genre for years to come. Put on your headphones, crank up your speakers, and let "utOpium" detonate into your ears!
There is more than one way to listen to BEBORN BETON's ninth album "Darkness Falls Again": it is possible to just dance and enjoy contemporary synth pop hymns that have a solid musical based in the golden 80s with a dash of cool 90s influences. Catchy tunes and mature songwriting combine to form a sonic joyride. Yet BEBORN BETON also put their finger right on the pulse of our time and speak out against misogyny, sexual discrimination, and environmental destruction. BEBORN BETON were founded by vocalist Stefan Netschio, keyboard player and drummer Stefan Tillmann, and keyboard player Michael Wagner in 1989. The trio set out with the declared aim to keep synth pop relevant and give it meaning. Following their first two regular albums "Tybalt" (1993) and "Concrete Ground" (1994), BEBORN BETON joined renowned acts such as WOLFSHEIM and DE/VISION in a new label home. Having conquered Germany, the three electro-musicians rapidly expanded their realm abroad with the 1996 full-length "Nightfall", followed by "Truth" in 1997, and "Fake" (1999) that gained the Germans international acclaim by critics and fans alike. By the time, "Rückkehr zum Eisplaneten" ('Return to the Ice-Planet') was released in 2000, BEBORN BETON had firmly positioned themselves as a headlining act within their scene and toured all the strongholds of electronic music. Yet heavy touring and the highly demanding creative output of so many excellent albums in quick succession took their toll. After the release of "Tales from Another World" (2002) and an exhausting US tour, BEBORN BETON went on an extended hiatus. 13 years later, BEBORN BETON returned with a new album on Dependent Recordings to the delight and surprise of their still huge following. "A Worthy Compensation" (2015) was showered with accolades from the relevant magazines. Having learned from previous experiences and not to fall back into a relentless production cycle, BEBORN BETON took their time to write another masterpiece. "Darkness Falls Again" has all the ingredients that make synth pop great. Catchy songs that make the legs twitch, a dash of melancholy, a pinch of irony, and a knife-tip of anger – music with a meaning. Welcome back BEBORN BETON!
This exceptional newcomer duo thrives on contrasts and opposites. The sonic exchange between the gravity centres of loud and quiet, light and dark, melodious sounds and dissonant noise invites comparison with classic electronics such as X MARKS THE PEDWALK, PARACONT, and NUMB among others. There is even a tongue-in-cheek touch of JAN HAMMER. All of these elements as well as contemporary ingredients create a highly dynamic album. "I Am the Shadow - I Am the Light" elegantly combines analog warmth and perfected sound with dark digital precision. NER\OGRIS' grew out of an instrumental project that keyboard player and electronic musician Kain conceived, who is well known among old school fans for his work with dark wave, EMB, industrial, and splatter house outfit LES BERRTAS. When singer Tinoc from Saxonian EBM insider-hot-news AMNISTIA was asked for a small vocal contribution, he spontaneously delivered vocals and lyrics for each of those tracks in record time. This convinced Kain to turn his project into a duo and to produce a complete album. Thus NER\OGRIS were born and ready to conquer planet electro. With "I Am the Shadow - I Am the Light", NER\OGRIS deliver an impressive debut album that delivers tasty new food for friends of dark electronic sounds from every generation. Blast it loud!
"Songs of Future Memories (1982-2022)" is the long overdue second anthology dedicated to the Swedish pioneers of electronic music, TWICE A MAN. On three CDs, the finest tracks from the 14 song albums have been collected and diligently remastered. The 7 instrumental works of the band's catalogue have been deliberately left out of this project, which is intended to serve as a comprehensive musical guide through the band's outstanding career spanning over 4 decades of groundbreaking works. In addition to the known material, the band has also added two new tracks.

TWICE A MAN never took the easy way. Long before it became fashionable, the Swedes positioned themselves as early environmentalists, which became a theme running through their lyrics but is also reflected in their music, which amalgamates futuristic electronics and organic elements from the start. In their holistic approach of creating a sonic cosmos of their own, the band resembles THE LEGENDARY PINK DOTS. Musically, theirs is a different story that been lovingly described as "Ultravox on weed – also melancholic but without the saccharine pathos" or "like a sad Gary Numan, but with a warm, organic touch". There are also gentle echoes of TANGERINE DREAM, KLAUS SCHULZE, and THE HUMAN LEAGUE among many other possible references.

When singer, guitarist, and keyboarder Dan Söderqvist teamed up with synth player Karl Gasleben in 1977, the duo formed COSMIC OVERDOSE as the first electronic band in Scandinavia. Although they sang in Swedish, their two albums created a buzz abroad, which led to COSMIC OVERDOSE being invited to support NEW ORDER on their first Scandinavian tour in 1981.

Being impressed with the band's performance, NEW ORDER's English promoter invited them over to the UK, but he found the name COSMIC OVERDOSE to be too closely related to drugs. This led to a change of band name to TWICE A MAN and the first concert under the new moniker took place in London on the 14th of December 1981.

In hindsight, the artistic contributions and keen interest of TWICE A MAN in environmental issues turns out to be quite prophetic. With our planet moving towards a catastrophe that is driven by human greed and stupidity, it seems that now is the perfect time to rediscover the pioneering work of this Swedish band. The art of TWICE A MAN reconciles electronic technology with the organic and natural. "Songs of Future Memories (1982-2022)" sends a beautiful and strong message to be both heard and enjoyed.
